The History of Laura Sherratt Designs
Laura Sherratt Designs was started in December 2008 by graduate Surface Pattern Designer Laura Sherratt.
Laura has loved all things patterned, decorative and embellished from a very young age, experimenting with manipulating images, exploring scale, colour and composition and enjoy drawing and designing for a diverse range of products all through her schooling days.
Whilst studying at University Laura began to specialise in designing for small scale objects including stationery and greetings cards. Convening her passions onto paper, using buttons, ribbon, crystals, line drawing, collage and material, winning prizes for Industry set product briefs.
It wasn’t until sometime after university that Laura decided to set up her own business. Laura had a desperate lust to design for industry but loved her Staffordshire Moorlands based home and family and with very few opportunities near her countryside home Laura took the plunge and set up Laura Sherratt Designs in Leek, Staffordshire.
The first thing Laura designed was a set of tiny cards created entirely by hand, hand drawn, sometimes stitched and embellished of course. She began by selling these handmade cards to local galleries and shops, going out on the road with her basket of cards, visiting everywhere personally to sell, then returning to her parents conservatory turned studio to design and make all cards with help from Gail, her Mum when things began to get busy!
Laura Sherratt Designs has expanded somewhat since it began as we have now moved into a brand new countryside Barn Studio and expanded our family of employees. The card range has now also expanded with a vast variety of designs available for all occasions. Laura’s product base is also continuing to expand as Laura designs for Gift Wrap, Thank you packs, bespoke invitations and more! There is always something new and exciting happening within our studio with new and unique designs continuing to be created!
Laura Sherratt Designs now supply to a variety of high end stores across the Uk, including Harrods and Fortnum & Mason. The feedback we have already had has been amazing and we want this to continue!
